Career Goal Description

My career goal is to become a successful and productive faculty member in a doctorate-grating university with high (R2)/very high (R1) research activities. I would like to conduct research to support teaching and learning with technology, teach and guide new scholars to get into this field, and service the community with my expertise. I listed two assistant professor positions and one post-doctoral fellowship position with the opportunity to transition to an assistant professor position.

Assistant Professor, Learning, Design, and Technology (CIS)

The Assistant Professor position at a R1 University would provide me with great opportunity to conduct research, publish in top journals, practice teaching skills, and service the community.

A doctorate in Learning, Design, and Technology, Instructional Technology, or a closely related area by the start date of the position.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Department of Career and Information Studies at the University of Georgia invites

applications for a position as an Assistant Professor of Learning, Design, and Technology

(LDT) to begin August 2022. The position is a tenure-track, academic year (9-month)

appointment with the possibility of summer employment. The qualified candidate will join an

active, innovative, and collaborative group of scholars focused on research, creation, and

use of technologies to enrich people’s lives in the workplaces and communities of the

future. Faculty members in the LDT program have a passion for designing, conducting

research, publishing in top journals, and seeking external funds to support their work. We

seek candidates who have a vision for the future of the field and the role of emerging

technologies in the workplace of the future.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Establish and maintain a rigorous and innovative line of research.

  2. Seek external funding to support and sustain your research agenda.

  3. Design and teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in instructional technology in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.

  4. Provide leadership in local, national and/or international partnerships.

  5. Provide service to the department, college, university and profession.

  6. Advise graduate students and supervise graduate student research.

Assistant or Associate Professor of Instructional Technology, Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development, College of Education

 

This position would help me become an innovative and productive scholar with a balanced focus on research, teaching, and service in the educational technology field.

Position Description:

​

Reporting to the department chair, the Assistant or Associate Professor of  Instructional Technology will be teaching graduate and undergraduate courses for the program’s M.Ed.,  Ed.S., and undergraduate minor degrees; along with maintaining an active research agenda, and service  work. The position is a 10- month, tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and  commensurate with qualifications and experience.  

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Earned doctorate in Instructional Technology, or closely related field, by August 1, 2022; 

  • Ability to design and teach graduate and undergraduate courses (online and face-to-face), and  offer graduate advisement; 

  • Ability to use and model technology for research and instruction; 

  • Effective communication skills; 

  • Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives; 

  • Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring,  and curriculum design and development; 

  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda  and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline;  

  • Ability to work with diverse student populations; 

  • Minimum of 5 years full-time college/university teaching experience at the assistant professor level is required for the rank of associate professor along with a strong record of research and  service with publications and presentations in professional venues.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • K-12 teaching experience; 

  • Higher education teaching experience; 

  • Experience teaching online;  

  • Experience in academic program coordination or direction for the associate level.

Sam Houston State University

Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:

 

The College of Education at Sam Houston State University seeks to hire an exceptional

Post-Doctoral Fellow to join a multi-disciplinary and diverse team to contribute to growing

research and to teach courses in the areas of Counselor Education, Educational Leadership,

Library Science and Technology, and/or the School of Teaching and Learning. Valuing

diversity and the strength found in diversity is a major component of the College of

Education strategic plan and the selected candidate will intentionally contribute to the

ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.

 

This fellowship is a two-year, postdoctoral appointment within the College of Education and

the candidate selected will receive mentoring from existing Tenure-Track faculty. Annually,

appointments are for 9-months (fall/spring). The selected candidate will teach up to four

courses in the fall and up to four courses in the spring and engage with ongoing research design, planning, and data analysis. Summer teaching appointments are possible but not

guaranteed as they are contingent upon departmental needs and availability. Actual

semester teaching load may be negotiated with the department or program with Dean’s

Approval.

 

After a successful 2-year appointment and pending successful evaluation and availability of

budget, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to apply and transition to a Tenure-

Track Assistant Professor position beginning in 2024-2025 academic year.

 

Educational Requirements for the Position:

 

Candidates will have earned a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education, Educational

Leadership, Library Science, Instructional Design Technology, Curriculum and Instruction,

Literacy or related field prior to the beginning of their assignment.

 

Experience required for the position:

 

The selected candidate will have a proven track-record of involvement in diversity, equity,

and inclusion initiatives.

 

Other requirements for the position:

 

Post-Doctoral Fellows will be expected to contribute in the areas of teaching, research, and

service/professional development. The successful candidate will assist with various research

projects; assist with grant writing and development; collaborate as necessary with various

research teams; contribute to development of new research projects; contribute to research

papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals; assist with and present at research

conferences; participate in service opportunities; and engage in the mission, goals, and

strategic development of the college.
